Small fashion haul :)

Hi :)
I've been super busy lately and I've been lazy when I do have free time. That's why I haven't posted anything since the CoverGirl mascara guide part 1. But I did manage to go shopping 2 weeks ago and I decidedto share what I got with you guys :). My friend and I decided to go shopping in downtown Montreal. It's about two hours away from Ottawa where we lived. It was alright. My friend was very judgemental of everything and anything and it was really unpleasant. I did manage to still have fun and buy a couple of things that I really wanted :).
I got a really nice bathing suit. It's a turquoise one piece with an open back. And it was suuuuper cheap! It was originally $59.99 at La Vie en Rose. It's a bit expensive for a student, just for a bathing suit, but I decided to try it on, because it was marked down to $29.99. But when I got the cash it was only $17.25 with taxes :D! I was super happy :).
Then I got a beige strapless bra from La Senza, nothing special. I don't have the receipt anymore, but it was around 40$ with taxes. It was expensive, but worth it. I wore it this week and I didn't have to pull it up all the time!
I also got an amazing pair of pants! I hate jeans, so I tend wear skirts, dresses, yoga pants or leggings. You can't just wear that all the time sadly. I've been trying to find a pair of pants that are lightweight, that can transitionned into fall and that are wearable for work and everyday life. It hasn't been easy haha! My new pants do all that! They're from La Maison Simon, but they're from the brand Roxy. They're a khaki green and they're made out of  linen and viscose, so they're perfect for summer and even fall. The shape is nice, it's a straight leg and it's a little looser on top. And there's huuge pockets at the front! And no pockets on the butt, which makes my bum look super good! I'm just so excited to wear them all the time :). Oh, and with taxes they were $48. The only problem is I'll need to iron the often :(.

The last thing I got was a pair of black high waisted yoga pants from Les Ailes de la Mode. They were having an end of lease sale so they were only $10! But no picture for them, because they are extremly dirty. I use them to work in the garden centre at the hardware store where I work.
I'll try to post more next week! There's probably gonna be a haul, be cause I get paid tonight and I'm going makeup shopping with my friend Nadine the Make-up Explorer! So stay tuned!

CoverGirl mascaras part 1

Hi everybody! :)
Sorry about the delay, my internet connection was being stupid last Thursday and it was so freaking annoying, so I decided to postpone it. Honestly, it's not really better now, but I'll just suffer :(.
Here's part one of my guide to CoverGirl mascaras. I'll do reviews of many of them and let you guys know which ones are the best. The last part of the guide will be my top three and why! So stay tuned for that! :)
Today, I'll be talking about the LashBlast Fusion and the Clump Crusher!

*Sorry about the orange sticker on the Clump Crusher! It's how I keep track of when to throw mascaras out. I just write down when I opened it and I keep it three to six months. It's so important to not keep mascaras for too long!
I'm probably gonna do some posts on how to keep makeup hygienic. I think there's just not enough info on that out there!
Lets talk about the LashBlast Fusion first!

What does CoverGirl say?

  • Fiberstretch formula and oversized brush make every little lash bigger, fuller, longer-looking, and more dramatic ;
  • Super volumizing + buildable fiber-strength lengthening ;
  • Thickens and extends the look of your natural lashes ;
  • Signature blast brush.
Is it true?

  • Yes and no... It is mascara, so of course, it is gonna make the lashes bigger, fuller, longer and more dramatic. But don't kid yourselves, they're not falsies. The wand is too big to get aaaall the little lashes, but more on that later ;
  • No, it is not super volumizing, but it does lengthen a reasonable amount ;
  • Yes, but again that's what any mascara does up to a certain point ;
  • Yes, keep scrolling for a picture of the wand!
My opinion:

  • The wand is huuuuge, which makes it difficult to reach the tiny baby lashes at the inners corner and makes it easier to get it on your lids;
  • I do like the bristles on the wand though, I think they make a nice effect. It separates the lashes pretty well, giveng them a good definition ;
  • Warning : you really have to be careful with the tip of the brush. It's flat and collects a lot a product, which makes a nice application harder. I personally wipe it off, but I didn't for the picture so you could see for yourselves ;
  • It gives volume like any mascara out there. To me, it is more lengthening than volumizing. Again, they're not falsies ;
  • The consistency is nice, it's not too wet (I've sneezed many times right after applying and it didn't smudge). It might be a bit too dry, because I do notice some flaking right when I put it on ;
  • It stays put nicely during the day. It hasn't smudge on my top or bottom lashes, even when it was raining lightly (and it deeef got on my face) and I don't even have a waterproof or water resistant formula ;
  • It's easy to build up and layer ;
  • It holds a curl, even if it's not waterproof ;
  • Super easy to remove with makeup remover ;
  • I have the colour black and, to me, it looks kinda grayish.
Final verdict: It is a nice mascara, it makes your lashes better and longer and stays put. To me, it's an everyday mascara. I would not choose it if I was in a rush (because it is harder to apply) or to go out (it's not dramatic). Honestly, I reach for it a lot, because it's simple, easy and I know it does the job. I would recommend it for an everyday look or someone who wants a natural look, maybe even for a teenager for school.

What about the Clump Crusher?
What does CoverGirl say?

  • Features an innovative double-sided brush with lash-loading and clump-combing zones to crush clumps ;
  • Innovative curved brush ;
  • 200% more volume, zero clumps ;
  • Super-volumized, beautifully separated lashes.
Is it true?

  • Maybe? I don't think the wand is that innovative, other brands have similar looking bristles or wands. About the zones the wand is suppose to have, I just don't know. I mean, there might be some science and reasoning to it, but how can I really know? And technically, it it double-sided ;
  • No, in the sense that it's not new and unique, but yes because it is curved, keep reading for a picture ;
  • NO. Again, that mascara doesn't transform my lashes into fucking falsies. Yes to the zero clumps ;
  • Not crazy volume, but volume nonetheless. It does separate very well.
My opinion:

  • I really like the wand. The shape, the size (the size of a regular mascara wand) and the bristles are good. The application and use of the wand are very easy, no complaints there ;

  • It doesn't have too much excess product that it makes it harder to apply. That combined with the bristles and the size of the wand makes it really clump-free. The definition is really good, if there's not too many layers (more on that later) ;
  • It is a tiny bit more volumizing than lengthening. Honestly, both are not intense or amazing ;
  • This mascara does not flake, or smudge, at all. Not when you apply it or throughout the day, not on the top or bottom lashes. But I have a water resistant formula, so it might be better than the regular one ;
  • The formula is not too wet (again I sneezed and it was fine), but it's not so dry that it's flaky;
  • It doesn't build up or layer that well. When I was layering three coats or more, it either didn't do anything or the definition was really not as good ;
  • I got it in the colour black and it looks black, not gray or super black. Just normal ;
  • It is not super hard to take off with makeup remover, even if it's water resistant ;
  • It holds the curl for the whole day ;
Final verdict: It's easy to apply and it defines very well. I do like a bit more length, so it's not my go-to mascara. I mostly put it on if I'm doing a very natural look or if I'm in a hurry or if it's humid/raining (because I know it'll work). I would recommend it for those purposes, because it is certainly not dramatic.

Here are some pictures of the mascaras on the lashes.
The LashBlast Fusion is on the left and the Clump Crusher is on the right. They look pretty similar and the picture quality isn't that great, so it is not that helpful, I know. But I decided to include the pictures anyways! Please don't mind the bare face, I was too lazy to put on a full face of makeup just for these pictures haha!
